The Lord Jesus Christ in his earthly ministry demonstrated the Kingdom of God by teaching and speaking in parables. He explained at every given time anything that had to do with the Kingdom using parables. In other words, parables were in those times and also in our times essentially the language of the Kingdom of God. Every kingdom has a language system, that is common to its citizens. The more powerful a kingdom is the more influence its language has. The interesting thing about parables is that when the Lord Jesus taught the people, the disciples would not understand. They would always wait when they were alone with the Master, and ask Him to explain in plain language what the parables meant; "As soon as He was alone, His followers, along with the twelve, began asking Him about the parables. And He was saying to them,“To you has been given the mystery of the kingdom of God, but those who are outside get everything in parables, so that WHILE SEEING, THEY MAY SEE AND NOT PERCEIVE, AND WHILE HEARING, THEY MAY HEAR AND NOT UNDERSTAND, OTHERWISE THEY MIGHT RETURN AND BE FORGIVEN" Mark 4vs10-12
The Kingdom of God is still very much active even to this day. Parables still remain the official language of the Kingdom of God. Interestingly these parables are what we call dreams and visions. The only difference between the parable as taught by the Lord Jesus Christ in His day, and those experienced now as a dream is that. During the time of the Lord Jesus earthly ministry, the people did not understand these parables, inclusive of the 12 disciples. But now we have the Holy Spirit given to us as the Teacher. He can now help explain God's language to us: “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father." John 16vs25 (NASB).
Dreams then become the most common language of God in His Kingdom. After Calvary, God is now so merciful that everyone can experience the Kingdom. Everyone is invited into the banquet to dine with the King to have a personal experience of the kingdom; "...Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.’ “‘Sir,’ the servant said, ‘what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.’ “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. Luke 14vs21-23 (NASB)
Born-again believers and unbelievers alike are now intelligible to the language of God through dreams. In the book of Acts there is the story of a soldier by the name Cornelius. He is a religious man, but not born-again. The invitation of Peter, to come and preach to him and his household came when he had a vision. An angel appeared to him and instructed him to call one named Peter, the chief apostle and overseer of the first church. The angel did not preach to him, lest some may get confused. Angels nor any other spirit being do not preach the gospel of the Kingdom:"At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion in what was known as the Italian Regiment. He and all his family were devout and God-fearing; he gave generously to those in need and prayed to God regularly. One day at about three in the afternoon he had a vision. He distinctly saw an angel of God, who came to him and said, “Cornelius!” Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God. Now send men to Joppa to bring back a man named Simon who is called Peter. He is staying with Simon the tanner, whose house is by the sea.” When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants. He told them everything that had happened and sent them to Joppa." Acts 10vs1-8 (NIV)
God's end time promise to humanity is the outpouring of His Spirit on all flesh. The book of Joel 2vs28 is very clear and concise about this. It says God will pour out His Spirit on ALL flesh, not the church, not the saved, not the elite, not the one who holds a title. The Spirit will be poured on ALL flesh. I am amazed at some people whose theology emphasizes on teaching more about the calamities of the end times, yet we have a more glorious promise of the outpouring of His Holy Spirit. It's not so much about the floods, the earthquakes but its about the gospel of the Kingdom being preached in all the earth, then the end will come. God is so Kingdom minded, and He wants all of us to come in and experience the Kingdom; "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." Mathew 24vs14 (NASB).
The Kingdom experience is about the Spirit being poured on ALL flesh. What is more interesting is the evidence of the Spirit that has been poured. According to Joel 2vs28: Young men will see visions and old man will dream, dreams. Simply put, this means the language of the Kingdom of God will be seen, experirnced and articulated in the form parables. Why? Because of God's goodness. There are real life stories of Muslims who got born again by giving their lives to the Lord Jesus Christ after having dream encounters.
Wow! Isn't God good. He wants us all to be a part of His Kingdom, regardless of race, color, nationality or any of that stuff. God is establishing the Kingdom of His Christ in our midst through the vehicle of dreams and visions. This Kingdom will grow until it increases, it will overtake the kingdoms of this world;
"There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will accomplish this." Isaiah 9:7 (NASB)
Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” Revelation 11:15 (NASB)
The Holy Spirit has been poured for us all according to Joel 2:28. The language of the Kingdom of God has power to influence change in cultures, systems and settings that are considired secular. When you commit to learning to speak the langauge of dreams and visions, you transcend beyond the church walls or religious boundaries. You walk in the dimension of Joseph, who practised the Kingdom of God and brought himself out of prison, and became a ruler.
Dreamers and Visionaries rule kingdoms, that is why God poured out his Spirit so that we can all go and establish the Kingdom of God in our sphere of influence. God promised that all of us can walk in this inheritance. It's all up for grabs! Let's go for it. Let's commit to learning the language of the kingdom of God through dreams and visions.
